CAIRO - 25 April 2024: UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Dr. Francesca Albanese, expressed her gratitude to Egyptian authorities for facilitating her journey from Cairo to Rafah with the assistance of the Egyptian Red Crescent.

During her visit, she met with Palestinian refugees and observed their challenges, noting that Israeli authorities prevented her from visiting Palestinian territories.

Egyptian Doctors' Efforts Recognized Dr. Albanese highlighted the significant efforts of Egyptian doctors in aiding Palestinian patients, acknowledging the tragic stories prevalent in Palestine.

She emphasized unprecedented attacks on Palestinians in the occupied territories, expressing concern over widespread violence and insecurity affecting Palestinian lives.

Israeli Disregard for International Decisions The UN official lamented Israeli disregard for international decisions, including those from the International Court of Justice, to cease mass killings of Palestinians. Despite international calls to halt arms to Israel, the situation remains dire. Dr. Albanese underscored the alarming humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians, with hundreds of children suffering from trauma.

She condemned the torture inflicted on Palestinians by settlers and Israeli occupying forces, stressing that Gaza is not the only area subjected to such atrocities.
