CAIRO – 22 April 2024: Palestinian Prime Minister Muhamad Mustafa praised on Monday, the ‘pivotal role played by Egypt since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza’, which comes within the framework of the continuous support provided by Egypt to the brotherly people of Palestine.

Mustafa’s statements came during meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Ramallah, Ihab Suleiman.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his congratulations to the Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on assuming the position and his wishes for the new Palestinian government for success.

Suleiman stressed Egypt's full readiness to provide all means of support for the success of the government's work, in order to serve the brotherly Palestinian people.

The meeting witnessed an exchange of visions between the two officials about the current situation in Gaza Strip, as well as the situation in the West Bank.

United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca P. Albanese said on Sunday that Israel had rejected her entry to Gaza Strip, expressing appreciation to Egypt for its role in delivering aid.

During meeting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry, the Minister warned of the grim consequences of the worsening humanitarian circumstances in Gaza Strip on regional security and stability. He also denounced the abstention of some countries to label the Israeli practices blatant violation of international law.

The Egyptian minister and the UN rapporteur exchanged assessments of the humanitarian status of Palestinians in Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Eastern Jerusalem. In that context, the former underscored that Israel must stop attempts of displacing Palestinians externally, collective punishment, and random targeting of civilians.
