CAIRO – 21 April 2024: CEO of Mersal and Member of the National Coalition for Civil Work Heba Rashed told press Sunday that the entity had operated six aid caravans to Gaza Strip since October 2023 at a cost of LE181 million.

The caravans consisted of a total of 113 trucks. The breakdown by category is 43 trucks carrying medical aid, 16 carrying bottled water, 29 carrying food, and 25 carrying blankets, clothes, footwear, and waterproof plastic rain covers.

In a related context, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Ahmed al-Sobky stated in March that over 35 percent of surgeries needed by the Palestinian injured who had been transferred to Egyptian hospitals were carried out.

The official noted that 52 percent of the patients were children aged below 18, and that 49 percent were females. He also added that the success rate of those surgeries was 100 percent.

Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stated in February that 44,065 injured Palestinians were receiving treatment in Egypt as they had been distributed among 85 hospitals.
