CAIRO – 18 April 2024: The Egyptian Cabinet approved the signing of a contract to implement the tourist walkway linking the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Pyramids area, according to a Cabinet statement released on Thursday.

“This approval comes in light of the state's strategy for developing archaeological areas, which includes linking the Pyramids Plateau with the Grand Egyptian Museum,” the statement read.

The walkway is two km long and half a kilometer wide, and starts from the site of the museum down to the three pyramids.

As per a statement released by the Grand Egyptian Museum in 2020, coordination efforts are in progress to alsoq connect the Pyramid Plateau Project with several prominent hotels in the vicinity.

Accessibility to the museum will be enhanced through various transportation options, including a cable-car system with up to 10 stops around the Giza Plateau and museum area.

Additionally, there are plans for the extension of the Cairo Metro line to provide direct access to the museum.

Furthermore, the new Sphinx Airport, situated approximately 6 to 7 km from the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), will facilitate easier access for visitors.
