CAIRO - 8 april 2024: Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, emphasized that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace, affirming the bloc's readiness to provide support.

Borrell stated that once detainees are released and a ceasefire is reached, there must be an immediate political transition in Gaza.

A high-level source confirmed intensive Egyptian efforts to guide perspectives towards reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Negotiations between Hamas and Israel continue under Egyptian auspices, with Qatari and American participation.

Hamas delegates are meeting with Egyptian General Intelligence officials ahead of the quadripartite negotiations.

The proposed ceasefire between Palestinian factions and Israel includes a prisoner exchange deal and mechanisms for the return of displaced persons in the Gaza Strip. In the final hours, Egypt has intensified contacts to resume ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

Sources revealed to al-Qahera News Channel that Cairo will host meetings to discuss restoring calm in the Strip. William Burns, the Director of the CIA, and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, along with an Israeli delegation, will participate in the Cairo negotiations on ceasefire in Gaza.
