CAIRO – 7 April 2024: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Sunday Chief of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns to discuss the Egyptian-Qatari efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza Strip.

The meeting – which was also attended by Chief of the General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel - tackled the updates of field conditions, and the necessity to accomplish pacification and de-escalation.

In that regard, the Egyptian president shed light on the perilous humanitarian conditions which turned into a famine that requires concerting international efforts for the sake of delivering sufficient aid to all areas of the Strip.

There was congruence on the need to protect civilians, repercussions of the military escalation in Palestinian Rafah, and rejection to the external displacement of Palestinians.

Equally, President Sisi stressed the importance of the two-state solution as a long-term settlement of the Palestinian Cause, and warned of the expansion of the scope of conflict in a way that undermines regional security and stability.
