U.S., Egypt hold talks on civil war in Sudan

CAIRO – 4 April 2024: Ambassador Hossam Eissa, the head of the Sudan and South Sudan Department at the Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello on mediation efforts targeting a ceasefire and resumption of negotiations in Sudan.

The ambassador added that the priority should be given to the protection of civilians and creating humanitarian corridors that would enhance the delivery of food and medical supplies.

The two sides also discussed ongoing preparations for the prospective conference on providing humanitarian support to Sudan and neighboring states. The event will be held in Paris on April 15, and will comprise countries backing peace in Sudan, donors, and international organizations.
