Cairo - 3 April 2024: Palestinian Delegate to the Arab League, Mahend Al-Aklouk, stated that Israel's incursion into Rafah would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe, endangering the lives of over 1.5 million displaced Palestinians, while also threatening Arab national security.
Addressing an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, Al-Aklouk noted that although the United States publicly opposes the Rafah incursion, it continues to supply arms to Israel, highlighting what he described as a contradictory stance.
Al-Aklouk emphasized that Israel's insistence on displacing Palestinians and committing genocide warrants action by the United Nations Security Council under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, as Israeli actions pose a blatant threat to international peace and security.
Furthermore, he stressed that daily incursions into Palestinian cities, property destruction, settler terrorism, underscore the urgent need for impactful economic, legal, and diplomatic decisions by Arab states to exert pressure on the occupation and enhance their influence.
