CAIRO - 2 April 2024: The Chinese Embassy in Cairo announced Tuesday, the arrival of an aid shipment amounting to 450 tons of rice provided by the Chinese government at the port of Port Said, to be delivered to Gaza Strip.

The embassy stated, in a statement, that this shipment will be transferred to the Palestinian side through the Egyptian Red Crescent Society as soon as possible, explaining that 450 tons of flour are scheduled to arrive in Port Said in mid-April.

The Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang, appreciated Egypt's role in resolving the current situation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip and its efforts to reach a ceasefire, thanking the Red Crescent Society for its contribution in providing aid through the Rafah crossing.

He stressed that Beijing supports the Palestinian people's access to their legitimate rights and the establishment of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations, referring to China's call to hold an international conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

He called for a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of the two-state solution, stressing that the existence of the Israeli occupation cannot be ignored, nor the historical injustice that befell the Palestinian people.
