New headquarters of Egypt's Parliament in New Administrative Capital - file

CAIRO - 2 April 2024: The headquarters of the House of Representatives in the New Administrative Capital was inaugurated Tuesday, where its first session witnesses a prominent political event, which is the inauguration of the Egyptian President of the Republic. 
 
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took the constitutional oath before the parliament in its first session held in its new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Last December, Sisi won the presidential elections by 89.6 percent.
 
The inauguration of the Egyptian president occurs every 6 years. 
 
The American magazine Engineering News-Record, known as ENR, confirmed that Egypt is witnessing a huge construction boom, at the heart of which is the project to establish the New Administrative Capital, a project that aims to move the government headquarters to modern, modern buildings. The magazine said that the creation of the new parliament required more than 16.5 million working hours.
 
 
In the below lines, et reviews the most prominent and important information about the Council’s headquarters in the Administrative Capital:
 
 
The total area of the project is 25.87 acres, and the total built-up area is about 181.8 thousand square meters, with a construction rate of 12.9 percent of the total area.
 
The plenary session hall of the House of Representatives in the Administrative Capital is circular in shape, similar to the current hall of Parliament, consisting of 3 floors.
 
The first floor includes the seats designated for representatives and the main platform on which the Speaker of Parliament sits. As for the second and third floors, one of them is designated for parliamentary editors and media professionals, and the other is for guests, public figures, and VIP visitors.

The main building includes a hall for the President of the Republic, the office of the Speaker of Parliament, the office of the Minister Plenipotentiary (Minister of Parliamentary Affairs), the offices of the two representatives of the Council, in addition to 30 party halls, offices for international parliaments, a restaurant that can accommodate 800 people, a central kitchen and a printing press. The building has a capacity of 3,250 people.
 
The main building consists of: A basement; a ground floor; 8 recurring floors.
 
The service buildings (the land area is 34,000 m2 and the building area is 65,230 m2) include:
 
- Electromechanical services building with a total area of 793.6 m2.
 
- A mosque that can accommodate 250 worshipers.
 
- A medical center with a rooftop area.
 
- A council services building with a total area of 1,314 m2
 
- A  security building with a total area of 1,240 m2
 
- A fire station with a total area of 885.3 m2
 
- Garages on two floors with a total area of 65,230 m2, capacity for 1,500 cars
 
- 1,400 m long fences
 
- 6 entrances (2 main entrance + 4 sub-entries).
 
The main hall of the House of Representatives building accommodates 1,000 members, in addition to offices for 3,200 employees, with an area of 3,500 m2 and a height of 65 m. The lower dome is 52 m in diameter, and the upper dome is concrete with a diameter of 57 m. It contains about 225 m3 of concrete and a metal pole at a height of up to 75 m.
 
The project is distinguished by the fact that all of its materials are locally manufactured and is equipped with the latest lighting, alarm, fire, and central air conditioning systems. The concrete structure of the main building has been completed and is being finished and equipped at the highest level of modern government buildings.
 
The total quantities of concrete in the project amounted to about 160 thousand cubic meters of concrete, and the total quantities of excavation in the project (320 thousand cubic meters), including approximately (160 thousand cubic meters) of rocks.
