CAIRO – 19 March 2024: President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi congratulated Tuesday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on his re-election wishing him success, and the Russian people more growth and prosperity.

President Putin won a fifth term garnering 87.28 percent of the votes. The Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced Monday that the general voter turnout was the highest since 1991 recording 77.44 percent (87,113,127 votes).

The foreign ministers of Russia and Egypt met in February on the sidelines of G20 Ministerial Meeting held in Brazil so as the latter expressed Egypt's hope that the Ukrainian crisis would be settled in a peaceful way. That is due to its persistent negative humanitarian, political and economic repercussions on the regional and international levels, and on the Egyptian economy in particular.

The two ministers exchanged views on the Palestinian Cause in connection with the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as the developments in Yemen and their negative impact on the security and safety of maritime navigation.

The talks also tackled developments in Sudan as well as ways to resolve the Libyan and Syrian issues.
