Spanish FM reiterates support to establishing Palestinian state

CAIRO – 14 March 2024: During his visit to Cairo, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Albares reiterated – in a speech at the Arab League – his country's support to the establishment of a Palestinian state - comprising Gaza Strip and the West Bank – having as capital Eastern Jerusalem.

 

The minister added – before the permanent representatives – that the humanitarian conditions in Gaza deserve an international attention, underscoring that human rights violations were being committed.

 

Minister Alabres highlighted that Spain had donated $20 million to the UNRWA given its pivotal role in providing care to Palestinian refugees. In a related context, he praised Egypt and Qatar for brokering ceasefire negotiations.
