CAIRO – 14 March 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has ratified amendments to Law 97/1959 that stipulate an increase in passport issuance fees to LE 1,000 from LE 250.

The presidential decree approving the amendments was published on Thursday in the official gazette "Al-Waqa'i' al-Misriyya" and will take effect the following day.

The Egyptian House of Representatives had approved the amendments on February 25, 2024.

It is important to note that the issuance of passports will continue to be subject to additional fees as outlined by other relevant laws.
