CAIRO – March 13, 2024: The Egyptian Zakat and Charity House (EZCH) of Al Azhar announced that its convoy of 100 trucks, carrying 2,000 tons of food, medical supplies, and essential necessities, has successfully reached the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.

This marks the fifth humanitarian aid convoy sent by EZCH to Gaza since October, as stated in a Wednesday press release by the Zakat house. The total number of trucks dispatched from EZCH to Gaza now stands at 225.

The Israeli aggression in Gaza over the past five months has pushed a quarter of the population to the brink of famine, resulting in the tragic deaths of numerous children due to malnutrition and dehydration.

The convoy carries medical equipment such as anesthesia machines, ventilators, dialysis machines and equipment, neonatal incubators and ventilators, as well as monitoring screens. Additionally, the aid contains medications for chronic diseases.

Moreover, the convoy delivered substantial quantities of food, including rice, pasta, noodles, sugar, oil, tea, dates, and cheese.

In addition to food and medical supplies, the convoy transported essential materials for the Gaza population, including blankets, covers, detergents, and personal care products for displaced families who were forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing conflict.

EZCH revealed that delegations from 80 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and South America participated in the convoy.

Since the onset of the war, Egypt has facilitated the delivery of tens of thousands of tons of aid to Gaza using both ground and air transportation methods, addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis in the strip.

Moreover, Egypt has been actively engaged in negotiations with mediators from the United States and Qatar, striving to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and enable further aid deliveries to the strip.
