CAIRO – 13 March 2024: Chairperson of the National Council for Women [NCW] Maya Morsi met on Wednesday with Senator Hon Katy Gallagher, Minister for Women, Minister for Finance, and Minister for the Public Service of Australia.
During the meeting Gallagher welcomed working with Egypt on women’s empowerment files especially after witnessing the efforts made in Egypt.
Morsi reviewed during the meeting the efforts of women’s financial inclusion and its increase up to 244 per cent.
She stressed that Egypt is still working to enhance women’s participation in the labor market, along with setting legislation supporting women’s empowerment.
Morsi welcomed joint cooperation with Australia to exchange experiences.
Both ministers discussed violence against women and violence resulting from the use of technology, which negatively affects women’s empowerment and women assuming leadership positions.
Morsi also reviewed the Egyptian cooperation with Belgium and various United Nations bodies, which brought together experts to discuss violence against women, develop recommendations, and exchange expertise on this issue.
