CAIRO – 29 February 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport for an official visit to Egypt on Thursday.

On November 11, 2023, President El-Sisi met with Al-Burhan on the sidelines of the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh. Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency Ahmed Fahmy said President El-Sisi emphasized that Egypt will continue its firm support for Sudan on all levels, particularly during the current critical circumstances, given the common strategic interests of the two brotherly countries.

President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Al-Burhan said he valued Egypt’s sincere and strenuous support to preserve the unity, safety, and stability of Sudan, most notably by receiving Sudanese citizens.

He noted that Egypt’s efforts come as an extension of the effective and appreciated Egyptian role in its entire regional milieu.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchanged views on issues of common interest.

Four days ago, Burhan visited Libya where he met with Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed Al-Menfi and Libyan National Unity Government Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the National reported.
