CAIRO - 28 February 2024: The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of the handover and the reception certificate for the Satellite Assembly, Integration and Testing Center project
 
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony of the handover and the receiving certificate for the Satellite Assembly, Integration and Testing Center project provided as a grant from China, following his meeting with Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, of the People's Republic of China at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. 
 
The certificate was signed by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce of China.
 
The project comes as a culmination of the mutual letters signed between the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the government of the People’s Republic of China on November 16, 2015, which included an agreement to implement the satellite assembly, integration and testing center project as a grant from China. The implementation of the project began on January 16, 2016, and was completed on June 30, 2023.
 
On the sidelines of the signing, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, stressed the close relations between both Egypt and China, noting that China is one of the most important development partners. The Minister also stressed the keenness of the two countries to continuously coordinate and implement development projects in various areas of cooperation.
 
Al-Mashat added that the Ministry of International Cooperation is keen to contribute to the success of the Egyptian space program and enhance Egypt’s leadership position, especially in the field of satellites and remote sensing technologies. She also indicated that the project contributes positively to transferring Chinese expertise to Egyptian technical personnel in the field of assembling And satellite testing.
 
The Minister noted that the Egyptian and Chinese sides had ratified the project’s readiness for delivery, and that the Chinese side had handed over the project to the Egyptian side, with a two-year guarantee for the project.
 
Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao said his country considers Egypt a major strategic partner, pointing out to close relations between the two countries’ leaderships and strong historical ties between both nations.

He noted that Egypt was the first Arab and African nation to recognize China in 1956.

Wang made the remarks during his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to discuss ways to consolidate Egypt-China cooperation, in the presence of Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir, head of the Commercial Representation Authority at the Ministry of Trade and Industry Yahya el Wathiq Billah, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang, and director-general of the Department of Western Asian and African Affairs at China's Ministry of Commerce Jiang Wei, among other senior officials.

The prime minister underscored the strength of the strategic relationship between Egypt and China, noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of a strategic partnership agreement that was signed with China in 2014.

He also praised existing cooperation between the two sides and the several major projects implemented by China in Egypt, including the Central Business District in the New Administrative Capital and TEDA Industrial Park.

Madbouly affirmed the Egyptian government's keenness to propel cooperation with China and attract Chinese companies to Egypt, pointing out that many agreements have recently been signed between both sides.

Meanwhile, Wang conveyed greetings from the Chinese prime minister to the Egyptian political leadership and government, expressing admiration at the development witnessed in the New Administrative Capital and the great efforts exerted with a view to achieving comprehensive development across Egypt.
