CAIRO – 24 February 2024: The Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition of the Airports Council International (ACI) kicked off in Cairo on Saturday with the participation of over 250 delegates and 30 exhibitors.

The 71st ACI Africa Board Meeting and Regional Committee Meetings are held coincidently.

The event is being held from February 24 to March 1 under the auspices of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Themed “Airports: Levers of Socioeconomic and Sustainable Growth,” the ACI Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition aims to address challenges as well as opportunities for advancing the aviation sector in Africa.

The event provides a collaborative platform for insightful discussions, exploring cutting-edge aviation technology, trends, and services.

Host of the event, CEO of Egyptian Holding Company for Airport and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) Mohamed Saied Mahrous, said the event reflects “our commitment to transforming airports into catalysts for development and efficiency.”

“As the aviation industry rebounds to pre-pandemic levels, we are at the forefront of innovation and growth, operating at full capacity,” Mahrous said.

The first day of the event witnessed the launch of the ACI Africa Regional Committees Meetings. Four of our six dedicated Regional Committees convened for in-depth meetings, namely the Safety and Technical, Facilitation and Technology, Environment and Sustainable Development, and Economics committees.

The event features more than 15 sessions, workshops and side events. Over 40 speakers will enrich discussions during these sessions.

The event is sponsored by over 20 companies, including the flag carrier EgyptAir, the Egyptian Airports Company (EAC), along with Egypt’s Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Civil Aviation.
