CAIRO – 22 February 2024: Egypt's population is projected to reach 117 million by 2030 and approximately 157 million by 2025, based on current birth rates, according to Khairat Barakat, the head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Speaking on the "Every Day" talk show on "ON" channel, Barakat stated that Egypt's population grows by 2 million individuals annually.

He noted that Egypt's population has now surpassed 106,050,650, with the growth rate decreasing over the past 5 years due to anti-overpopulation measures.

Barakat further explained that four children are born every minute in Egypt, resulting in 5,600 newborns daily, equivalent to roughly one birth every 15 seconds.

He highlighted that the birth rate in Egypt for 2022 was recorded at 2.8 children per woman.
