CAIRO – 16 February 2024: The “Run for Gaza” marathon kicked off on Friday from Wadi Degla Reserve in Maadi, to raise donations for humanitarian aid convey for the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

 

The marathon was launched by Nevin Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, under the title “In Solidarity with Our People in Gaza,” in cooperation with the Egyptian Tribal and Families Council, the Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and the Minister of Youth and Sports, according to a statement from the Ministry of Social Solidarity on Friday.

 

The marathon supports the Palestinian cause and the Gaza Strip. It brought together approximately 10,000 participants of different ages as it aims to collect donations to help the people of the Gaza Strip, the statement added.

 

The event encouraged participants to collect donations through awareness, where donations have already been collected to equip a food convoy consisting of 50 trucks.

 

Egypt has sent the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip about 200,000 tons of humanitarian aid shipped and delivered either by land, sea, or air, Al Qabbaj said, noting that Egypt’s aid to the Gaza Strip constitutes 60% of all aid has been delivered to the Palestinians so far.
