Egyptian president, Qatari PM discuss risks of military escalation in Gaza's Rafah

CAIRO – 13 February 2024: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdel Rahman al-Thani to confer over efforts exerted to achieve a ceasefire and protect civilians from the deteriorating conditions in Gaza Strip as well as the stumbling delivery of aid.

 

There was congruence among the two sides on the risks pertinent to the military escalation in Rafah southern the Gaza Strip as it would worsen the humanitarian suffering. Hence, they stressed that international endeavors were salient to inhibit the expansion of conflict and tensions in the region.

 

The meeting was attended by Egypt's Chief of the General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel, and Qatar's Chief of the State Security Agency Abdullah Bin Mohamed al-Khalifi.
