Egypt’s FM to hold bilateral talks with Bulgarian counterpart in Cairo Saturday

CAIRO – 8 February 2024: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will receive Mariya Ivanova Gabriel, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of Bulgaria, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Saturday.

 

The ministers will hold a session of bilateral discussions, then a working session with a number of ministers from both sides, followed by a signing ceremony for an agreement and a joint press conference, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s Thursday statement.

 

On January 22, 2024, Shoukry met with his Bulgarian and Luxembourger counterparts in Brussels on the sidelines of the Association Council of the European Union and Egypt.

 

Minister Shoukry stressed to Minister Gabriel the necessity of devising a joint vision for making Egypt a center from which Bulgarian firms enter the markets of the Middle East and Africa. On the other hand, Egypt aims to establish a logistic center in Bulgaria to better deliver exports to southeastern European market. The state also eyes increasing the number of Bulgarian tourists to its destinations

 

Further, the two ministers welcomed continuous mutual support at the international level and backed the nominations of each other's states for international positions. They also discussed opportunities for bolstering trade exchange and economic cooperation, particularly in the sectors of manufacturing, energy, and agriculture.

 

Minister Shoukry said he encourages Bulgaria to back the Egyptian vision of accomplishing security and stability in the Middle East, stressing the importance of preserving the sovereignty of states and their institutions, and eliminating terrorist organizations.
