CAIRO – 5 February 2024: As of February 4, 2024, the 55th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair attracted 4,097,409 visitors since January 25, Youm7 reported.

This is the largest number since the exhibition moved to a new headquarters in the Egypt International Exhibition Center.

On “Palestinian Culture and Heritage Day,” Monday, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture will organize a series of diverse cultural and artistic events, including seminars on “Egypt’s Role in the Palestinian Issue,” in cooperation with the Egyptian Center for Thought and Strategic Studies.

Another symposium titled “The Futures of the Current Palestinian Situation” will be held in cooperation with the Parties Youth Coordination.

The fair, held under the theme "Creating Knowledge, Preserving the Word," commenced on January 25 and will run until February 6 at the International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.

Spanning an area of 80,000 square meters, this edition of the fair features more than 550 events and showcases the works of 5,250 exhibitors.

Norway has been designated as this year's distinguished guest country at the fair.

Renowned Egyptian Egyptologist Selim Hassan has been honored as the person of the year, while esteemed Egyptian writer Yacoub El Sharony, a pioneer in children's literature across the Arab world, has been recognized as the persona of the year at the parallel children's exhibition.

With the participation of 1,200 Arab and foreign publishers and official organizations from 70 countries worldwide, the Cairo Book Fair remains the largest and oldest book fair in the MENA region, first launched in 1969.
