CAIRO – 11 January 2024: The pentagon has announced the US State Department’s approval of the potential sale of patrol craft kits to Egypt and other military equipment, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

The potential sale includes a light tactical vehicle chassis and related equipment worth $200 million, the Pentagon said, noting that the cost of the patrol craft kits amounts to $129 million.

Egypt and the US have continued to develop their military cooperation by conducting joint training and drills amid the two countries’ keenness to expand regional cooperation and security.

Last October, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense held their 34th military cooperation committee (MCC) in Cairo with the aim of strengthening the defense partnership between the two countries and discuss global and regional threats.

In January 2022, The US administration approved a huge $2.5 billion arms sale to Egypt, according to US media reports.
