CAIRO - 9 January 2023: The Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations, Ibrahim Khreisha, said that the visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Cairo comes at a very sensitive time and circumstance, and everyone is working on one goal, which is reaching a ceasefire and not for Israel to stop targeting civilians and destroying infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

Ambassador Ibrahim Khreisha confirmed - during a phone call with the CBC satellite channel on Monday - that Egypt plays an important role at the Arab and international levels regarding the ceasefire, the entrance of aid, and lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, stressing that This is the first tragedy that the world must work on.

He pointed out that Egypt's location is important, as the only crossing point for bringing in aid is the Rafah crossing, and Israel is legally obligated to open the rest of the crossings, pointing out that it is in constant contact with the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Ambassador Ibrahim Kreisha explained that all of these organizations are humanitarian, and what is hindering their work is the Israeli occupation force, and there is hope that something will emerge from the International Court of Justice after the hearing that will begin next Thursday by South Africa.

He added that there is an expectation that a judicial order will be issued requiring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the entry of aid, the lifting of the siege on the Palestinian people, and the cessation of incitement.
