CAIRO – 27 December 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan have renewed their categorical rejection of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace the Palestinians either inside or outside their lands.

In a meeting in Cairo on Wednesday, Sisi and King Abdullah II affirmed that the international community should only aim to implement an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensure swift access to sufficient aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in the strip.

They also called for the international community to shoulder its huge moral and political responsibility of enforcing the resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly to safeguard the credibility of the international system.

They also highlighted the need to ensure that the conflict does not expand to affect regional and international security and stability.

Moreover, the two leaders urged the need for serious efforts on the path toward comprehensive and fair settlement that leads to the establishment of the independent Palestinian cause on the borders of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital in line with the international legitimacy resolutions.

Sisi and King Abdullah discussed regional issues, especially the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, which has left thousands killed or injured, displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, and destroyed a large part of the infrastructure in the strip.

The Israeli aggression in Gaza since early October has so far killed nearly 21,000 people, most of whom are women and children, and injured around 55,000 people.

The Israeli unrelenting attacks have also displaced 85 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million population, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) last week, leaving the strip in one of the world’s worst tragedies and humanitarian crises.
