CAIRO - 21 December 2023: Al-Azhar Observatory expressed its fear that the Israeli occupation would carry out field executions against a large number of Palestinian prisoners who were arrested from inside the Gaza Strip.

The observatory said that the Palestinian prisoners were taken in an inhumane manner to an unknown fate in a heart-wrenching scene after they were stripped of their clothes.

These fears were actually confirmed after the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz revealed the martyrdom of a number of these prisoners in an occupation army detention camp located at the “Sde Teman” army base near Be'er Sheva in the Negev.

As a result of their harsh detention conditions, they were detained with their hands and feet shackled and blindfolded for most of the day. The restrictions only allowed them to move limitedly and eat occasionally, while they slept on thin mattresses on the floor in three detention sections, each of which could accommodate about 200 detainees.

A few days ago, the Hebrew newspaper revealed that 6 Palestinian prisoners had been martyred inside the occupation prisons under torture since October 7th.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation army arrested about 500 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip until the end of last November, including elderly people, women and children.

The Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism warned that the Israeli occupation is carrying out more crimes against Palestinian prisoners, especially as it continues to carry out the crime of enforced disappearance against them, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law, as it insists on refusing to disclose any data regarding their fate, after publishing photos of their arrest and taking them to prison.
