CAIRO – 20 December 2023: Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his re-election in a phone call on Wednesday.

Sheikh Tamim stressed Qatar’s keenness to continue cooperation with Egypt to support the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

For his part, Sisi thanked the Qatari emir for his generous gesture, affirming that Egypt will continue enhancing its bilateral cooperation with Qatar in various fields.

World leaders have congratulated the Egyptian president on winning the elections last week. Sisi, president since 2014, was re-elected for a third six-year-term until 2030.

Sisi won the elections with 39.702.541 votes or 89.6% of total valid votes, according to the National Elections Authority.

In a speech following the victory, Sisi affirmed continuing efforts to build the “New Republic,” which is a democratic state that is committed to upholding the law and constitution and moves firmly toward modernity and growth.

Sisi stressed that he will remain the voice of the Egyptian people and defend their dream. “In my mission that you have assigned me, I have nothing but working with and for you,” he said.
