CAIRO – 17 December 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is heading today to Kuwait to offer his condolences over the death of Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who passed away on Saturday.

President has mourned the death of the Kuwaiti emir, describing him as “the great man who has been supportive of his Arab and Islamic world.”

In a statement by the Egyptian Presidency, Egypt has declared three days of mourning over the passing of the emir.

Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Nawaf passed away, aged 86, after three years in power and only a few weeks after he was admitted to hospital over an emergency health problem.

Subsequently, Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, 83, named as the new emir.

Kuwait has announced a 40-day mourning and a three-day closure of official departments over the emir’s death.
