Egyptians continue to flock to polling stations, NEA says no extending for additional voting days

CAIRO – 12 December 2013: Central Operations Room of Egypt’s National Elections Authority [NEA] headed by Ahmed Bandari contacted the polling stations’ heads through video and audio calls on Tuesday to follow up with the latest updates of the third elections day of Egypt’s 2024 Presential Election.

All Judges affirmed during the calls that the voting process is flowing regularly without any obstacles.

Egypt’s NEA affirmed that polling stations in all governorates witness heavy turnout of voters and that all of the sup-polling stations will keep working until the last voter inside electoral complexes is finished.

It was confirmed, however that there will be extension for 4th day in Egypt’s 2024 Presidential Elections.

Egyptians continued to flock to polling stations with high density hours before ending the voting process in Egypt’s 2024 presidential elections. They celebrate, sing and dance amid unprecedented rates of participation according to NEA.

The third and last day of voting domestically in the 2024 Presidential Election kicked off Tuesday. The number of eligible voters is 67 million, and that of candidates is four, including the incumbent president.

Egypt’s NEA affirmed that the voting during the 3 days started regularly and smoothly.

Voting kicked off on Sunday at 9 AM with thousands of polling stations spread nationwide opened their doors to around 67 million voters until 9 PM to choose between four candidates: incumbent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has been in post for two terms since 2014; Farid Zahran, head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party; Abdel Sanad Yamama, Head of Al-Wafd Party; and Hazem Omar, head of the Republican People’s Party.

State officials and ministers have joined the masses of citizens casting their ballots at polling stations spread across Egypt, encouraging citizens to exercise their right in choosing their leader for the next six years.

At 9 AM sharp, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, president since 2014, voted in the elections. First Lady Entissar Amer has also cast her ballot in the same polling station in Heliopolis, Cairo.

The 2024 presidential election is the fifth multi-party presidential elections that the country has witnessed in its modern history. The 2024 elections gain their importance from being a major step in the country’s path towards democratic transformation, party pluralism and political competitiveness, which came after a year and a half of serious and unprecedented national dialogue, which included all components Egyptian political, union and civil society.

The 2024 Presidential Elections for citizens inside the country is taking place a few days after the three-day voting process for Egyptians abroad was concluded early in December.

The final result will be announced on December 18 if no run-off is required. Voting inside the country will take place from 10-12 December.
