CAIRO – 9 December 2023: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated an online registration process to facilitate the return of Egyptian citizens and their families from the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created a dedicated registration link at for this purpose, said Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Saturday.

The registration link aims to efficiently collect data from citizens who wish to return and streamline the registration process through a centralized platform, said the spokesman.

Upon receiving the data, detailed lists will be prepared and directly delivered to the authorities at the Rafah border crossing, both on the Egyptian and Palestinian sides. This approach aims to facilitate the passage of Egyptian citizens from the Gaza Strip to Egyptian territories, the ambassador added.

The ministry urges Egyptian citizens in the Gaza Strip to exclusively utilize this new registration mechanism and limit their communication and registration channels to it. Abu Zeid affirmed that this link would be the only legitimate means of returning to their homeland.

Any other methods suggested by individuals are considered fraudulent and exploitative, the spokesman said, adding that such deceptive attempts take advantage of the challenging conditions in the Gaza Strip and are not affiliated with the Egyptian state.

The Egyptian authorities are committed to ensuring the safe exit of Egyptian citizens and their families from the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing violent military operations in the strip, Abu Zeid affirmed.

Since the start of the war, Egypt has received thousands of foreigners and dual nationals fleeing the war in Gaza, as well as some of the injured Palestinians who are receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
