CAIRO - 9 December 2023: The 2024 Egyptian presidential election will begin tomorrow, Sunday, December 10. Polling stations will be open from 9am to 9pm for three days, December 10-12.

The National Elections Authority has completed all necessary preparations for the election, including the establishment of 11,631 polling stations in 9,376 electoral centers. The stations will be staffed by 15,000 judges from various judicial bodies.

The authority has also taken steps to accommodate older voters and voters with disabilities. Polling stations have been located in accessible locations and voting instructions are available in Braille.

The authority has also invited all diplomatic missions accredited to Egypt to observe the election. Twenty-four embassies have registered 67 diplomats to observe the election. Fourteen international organizations have also been accredited to observe the election, with 220 observers from these organizations registered. In addition, 62 local civil society organizations have registered, with 22,340 observers from these organizations registered.

The authority has also issued 528 international media accreditations to 115 media organizations. In addition, 70 local media organizations have been accredited, with 4,218 journalists and media workers from these organizations registered.

The pre-election campaign period ended on Friday, December 9. This means that no candidate or campaign may engage in any campaigning or promotion activities. This is to give voters time to make their decisions without being influenced by campaigning.

The authority has also established polling stations for expatriates and migrant workers who are living in other provinces. These stations will be located in industrial zones, tourist areas, and all provinces with large expatriate populations. This will allow expatriates to vote and exercise their constitutional rights.
