CAIRO - 2 December 2023: Egyptians abroad continued their voting process on Saturday at embassies and consulates for the 2024 presidential elections. The polling stations experienced a significant turnout, with voting taking place from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM local time in each country.

The electoral silence period commenced, and campaign advertisements for candidates abroad ceased, following the established schedule on November 29 and 30.

The elections abroad are conducted over three days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, corresponding to December 3, 2, and 1. The polling stations operate from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM local time in each country.

The electoral process is held outside the Arab Republic of Egypt in 137 embassies and consulates across 121 countries globally. The locations and addresses were determined by a resolution from the National Election Authority (27/2023).

Voters present their national ID card or valid passport to verify their identity and check if they are registered in the voters' database.

Upon verification, they receive a ballot card, mark their chosen candidate, fold the card, and place it in the ballot box. Each voter is allowed to cast their vote only once, whether inside or outside the country.

The National Election Authority previously confirmed the successful trial run of the devices and software used in the electoral process. Specialized technical support teams within the authority are tasked with providing comprehensive technical assistance to Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad. The Executive Director of the National Election Authority and relevant experts within the authority held virtual meetings with ambassadors and consuls, who serve as heads of the subcommittees at Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad.
