Egypt's civil society donates 9K tons of aid to Gaza Strip

CAIRO – 26 November 2023: Member of the National Coalition for Civil Developmental Work Talaat Abdel Qawy stated in a phone-in Sunday that the entity alone had sent Gaza Strip 975 aid trucks carrying a total cargo of 9,000 tons.

 

On Friday, which was the first day of the truce, 200 aid trucks entered Gaza, while 143 crossed on the following day. Of those, 70 trucks were even able to reach the northern section of the Strip on Saturday.

 

Six trucks entered the enclave carrying 129,000 liters of diesel, and 80,000 liters of gas on Sunday where the number of aid trucks flowing in are expected to amount to 200. It is noted that around 20,000 tons of aid have been delivered to Gaza since the beginning of the crisis, with Egypt contributing by more than 80 percent.

 

On the first day of the truce, Hamas released 24 civilians who were detained in the Gaza Strip. In return, Israel released 39 women and children who were in Israeli prisons. On the second day, Hamas released 13 Israeli hostages in exchange for 42 Palestinian captives. Further, Hamas released 18 Thai and Filipino workers.  

 

On the third day, 13 Israelis and 39 Palestinians will be released within the hostage exchange deal providing that 50 Israelis would be released in exchange for 150 Palestinians.
