CAIRO – 7 November 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William J. Burns at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace.

The two parties affirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, and the central role of that collaboration in the maintenance of security and stability in the Middle East.

They also stipulated mutual eagerness for reinforcing cooperation in various fields, particularly on the levels of security and intelligence, with the aim of restoring stability in the region and facing multiple challenges on that front.

President Sisi and the CIA director conferred over a number of regional and international issues of joint concern, mainly the Israeli military escalation in Gaza. In that regard, the chief of state underscored the Egyptian fundamentals that are an immediate ceasefire and not obstructing the delivery of aid.

In turn, Burns underlined keenness on continuous coordination with Egypt in order to resolve the current crisis.
