CAIRO – 26 October 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received a phone call from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides on Thursday as they reviewed developments of the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
According to Spokesperson for Presidency Ahmed Fahmy, there was consensus on the need to intensify international and regional efforts to stop the escalation as it is the current priority to prevent it from taking broader dimensions that increase the complexity of the situation.
President Sisi also reviewed the results of the intensive contacts carried out by Egypt with various concerned parties in order to reach a ceasefire and provide safe and urgent access to humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip, in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Strip, as well as advancing the process of reviving the peace process and realising a just and lasting settlement for the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution.
