CAIRO - 25 October 2023: Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism released a statement warning of the dangers of the escalatory steps taken by the Israeli occupation by closing Al-Aqsa mosque doors.

Al-Azhar Observatory described the Israeli closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and preventing worshipers from entering is a provocation to more than a billion Muslims.

The statemens comes in light of the brutal attacks launched by the Zionist entity on the Gaza Strip since the 7th of October, in addition to the escalation step against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem explained that the occupation has been imposing great restrictions on the entry of worshipers into Al-Aqsa Mosque since the morning, as it used to allow only the elderly to enter, but it retracted that and refused to allow anyone to enter, noting that this is the first time that the occupation has closed Al-Aqsa Mosque since several months.

For its part, the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism warned of the danger of this escalatory step taken by the occupation at this time when it is carrying out a war of extermination against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The Observatory stressed that the Zionist audacity to close the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a blatant provocation to the feelings of more than a billion Muslims around the world, and portends dire consequences, especially in light of the massacres committed by the occupation against innocent Palestinians inside the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Observatory stressed that Al-Aqsa, despite everything it is exposed to, remains a mosque. It is a purely Islamic sanctuary, and any infringement on its existing historical, religious and legal status cannot be accepted.
