CAIRO – 23 October 2023: Ambassador Beth Jones, the United States Chargé d'Affaires, has praised Egypt’s efforts for a peaceful and stable Middle East as she attended the Cairo Peace Summit held on Saturday to discuss the crisis in Gaza.

Jones voiced gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for Egypt’s role in hosting the summit and outlined US support for Palestinian aspirations.

During her participation in the summit, Jones reiterated the US support for a durable and lasting peace in the Middle East based on the two-state solution.

“We must keep pursuing a path so that Israel and the Palestinian people can both live safely, in security, in dignity, and in peace. Egypt is an indispensable partner in that endeavor,” Jones added.

US President Joe Biden affirmed that there will be a continued a flow of critical aid to Palestinians in need in Gaza, US President Joe Biden said on Monday.

He made the remarks following the delivery of the first two convoys of humanitarian aid to Gaza over the past two days.

A third aid convoy reportedly entered the Rafah border crossing from the Egyptian side toward Gaza today.

Biden also said on Saturday that the US will continue to work with Egypt and Israel around the clock in order to facilitate the exit of US citizens and their immediate family members.

The aid delivery to Gaza can mean the start of evacuation of third-country nationals from the strip. Informed sources affirmed earlier this month that Egyptian authorities have refused the evacuation of foreign residents from Gaza except as part of an aid delivery agreement.
