CAIRO - 21 October 2023: The flow of relief to Gaza and protecting its civilians must be ensured, Egypt said in a Saturday statement after a peace summit it hosted with a large turnout.

Egypt also called for de-escalating the situation so as to prevent the expansion of the conflict.

Egypt reiterated that it will never accept calls to end the Palestinian cause at the expense of any country in the region.

“It will not relent for a moment in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security under increasingly dangerous and threatening circumstances and situations,” the statement said.

The statement also emphasized that the neglect of Palestinian rights for decades has led to the crisis, which should be used to unlock a way to a serious peace process and a Palestinian state.

The management of the Palestinian issue, rather than working towards a real solution to the problem, does not live up to the minimum aspirations of a people, the statement said.

It added that the Palestinian people, who have suffered under foreign education for some 80 years, have the right to life, safe housing, decent health care, education, and above all a state that embodies their identity and to which they are proud to belong.

The ongoing war has also revealed a shortcoming in the values of the international community, where it rushes and even competes to condemn the killing of innocent people in one place, but hesitate to denouncing the same act in another, according to the statement.

There are even attempts to justify the killing of Palestinians as if their human lives are less important, the statement continued.
