Egyptian-Jordanian summit in Cairo Thursday

CAIRO - 19 October 2023: An Egyptian-Jordanian summit will be held in Cairo later Thursday, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.

On Wednesday, El Sisi agreed with his US counterpart Joe Biden to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, through Rafah Border Crossing on a sustainable basis.

During a phone call between the two leaders to discuss the humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip, Sisi and Biden also agreed that the Egyptian and US bodies concerned will coordinate with international humanitarian organizations to secure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave, under the supervision of the UN, according to Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.

The spokesman said they also agreed that bodies concerned in Egypt and the US should maintain coordination with international humanitarian organizations under the supervision of the United Nations to secure the aid delivery.

Biden thanked Sisi for his efforts towards regional peace and security, the spokesman noted.
