CAIRO - 16 October 2023: Jordanian experts and political analysts confirmed that the invitation extended by Egypt to host an international regional summit in order to address developments and the future of the Palestinian issue "confirms Egypt's pivotal and pioneering role in supporting Arab issues forever, most notably the Palestinian issue and the rights of the Palestinian people."

The experts praised the Egyptian and Jordanian positions regarding the necessity of stopping the war on Gaza, in addition to delivering urgent aid to our Palestinian brothers immediately.

Jordanian experts and political analysts said, “Egypt and Jordan are making unremitting efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.”

They stressed that these efforts will inevitably result in an immediate truce and the introduction of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The experts further appreciated Egypt’s right to defend its national security and emphasized "there is no solution to the Palestinian issue except the two-state solution, while rejecting and denouncing the policy of displacement or attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue at the expense of neighboring countries."

For his part, the editor-in-chief of the Jordanian newspaper (Al-Ghad), Mahmoud Tarawneh, confirmed in statements to MENA that Egypt is leading persistent efforts to stop the aggression from the first moments, and it has succeeded on several previous occasions and will succeed this time.

"Egypt’s call to hold an international regional summit came at its time amid an Arab and international movement led by Cairo and Amman, and coincided with the tour of Jordanian King Abdullah II in Europe," he added.

He also said that the decisions of the National Security Council meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi - where developments in the regional situation were reviewed, especially with regard to developments in the military escalation in the Gaza Strip - indicate a sense of Arab and international responsibility on the part of Egypt.

Tarawneh pointed out that Egypt and Jordan have been working together from the first moments to reduce the escalation.

In turn, Dr. Jamal Al-Shalabi, professor of political science at the Hashemite University of Jordan and strategic expert, said that Egypt’s invitation to a regional and international summit represents the first clear and organized Arab movement through a global summit to establish mechanisms to stop the violence, and then bring aid to the Palestinian people, after which it is possible to talk about the future of the Palestinian issue internationally.

Al-Shalabi added, in a statement to ASA, that Egypt and Jordan are considered the main players in the Palestinian issue by virtue of geography and history, and in their interests are security, stability, a fair solution to the issue, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their state with its capital, Holy Jerusalem.

He noted that the Jordanian King is currently holding discussions with friendly European countries, stressing that Egypt and Jordan are the region's safety valve and the gateway to its security and stability.

Al-Shalabi expressed his belief that the continuing Egyptian and Jordanian efforts will reach solutions aimed at stopping the war and reaching a truce that will contribute to the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.

For his part, the Assistant Secretary-General for Health Affairs in the Jordanian Ansar Party, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hassan Al-Tarawneh, considered that Egypt and Jordan have always been the lifeline for the Palestinian cause and the gateway to security and stability in the region.

He described the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian people as a “war crime and genocide” that violates the international humanitarian law.

Tarawneh stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and national security of Egypt and aborting systematic Israeli attempts to displace Palestinians to Egyptian lands, which is something that is rejected by the Arabs at all official and popular levels.

He called for the necessity of this international regional summit, which Egypt called for, setting a path to resume the peace process before the world to reveal the face of Israel that rejects all Arab peace initiatives.
