He pointed out to high-level consultations between the two countries in light of the current crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Gutiérrez told MENA on Wednesday on the occasion of Spain's National Day, which falls on October 12 that the severe current crisis in Gaza led to holding high-level bilateral consultations.

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares made a fruitful telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, the Spanish diplomat said.

Speaking about the role Egypt is playing in the region to ensure stability and security, he said Egypt is living amid unstable region that is hit by political conflicts such as the conflicts in Libya, Sudan and Palestine and Israel as well as threats, topped by terrorism and organized crime or illegal migration.

Gutiérrez commended the commitment of the Egyptian diplomacy to attaining stability and security in the region at large through the promotion of dialogue and cooperation.

The ambassador said Spain is always ready for fostering good cooperation with Egypt in security issues.

Answering a question about deep-rooted coordination between Cairo and Madrid regarding international and regional issues of mutual concern and crises worldwide, he pointed out to the two important, recent initiatives that were launched last month on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
