Pardoned inmates on October 6 War Victory anniversary thank President Sisi

CAIRO – 7 October 2023: The released inmates on the occasion of the anniversary of the 6th of October War victory thanked President Abdel Fattah al Sisi for pardoning them, ‘giving them a chance to start over.’

“Thank you, President Sisi” the released prisoners said, expressing their gratitude for having ‘another chance in life’

The released men affirmed that they were receiving a ‘decent’ treatment and that they spent their time learning new thigs; however, “we are all happy to return to our families again.”

Last week, the Social Protection Sector of the Interior Ministry held meetings of committees from the security authorities concerned to consider the status of inmates who deserve pardon.

In accordance with the decision of the committees meetings, as many as 3,328 inmates were pardoned.

That came in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's decree no. 417 of year 2023 pardoning some inmates on the occasion of the anniversary of the 6th of October War victory.

The decision reflects the ministry’s firm intentions to establish a modern punitive policy and to provide the utmost care for inmates at correction centers.
