CAIRO – 3 October 2023: A number of political parties welcomed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's announcement of his candidacy for a new term in the upcoming presidential elections.
President Sisi announced on Monday his plans to run for another term in the upcoming elections, scheduled for December, during the Story of a Homeland conference.
Egyptians will cast their votes in the 2024 Presidential Elections on 10-12 December 2023 locally, while eligible voters living abroad will vote on 1-3 December.
The parties have emphasized that the president's candidacy sends a message of reassurance to millions of Egyptians, indicating the continuation of the development and construction process that began in the country since he assumed power following the June 30th Revolution, 2013.
Homeland Defenders
The Homeland Defenders Party, led by Galal El-Haridi, stated that President Sisi's candidacy is a strong signal for the continuity of achievements in all fields and in all governorates across the republic.
The party expressed full confidence in the Egyptian people's choice in the upcoming elections.
The party pledged to utilize all its headquarters and resources for Sisi’s presidential campaign, believing in the successes achieved in Egypt and the need to continue them for the sake of the nation and its citizens.
Free Egyptians Party
Meanwhile, the Free Egyptians Party, led by Essam Khalil, welcomed Sisi's candidacy announcement, calling on him to continue the development path that began in 2014.
The party praised the president's words at the conclusion of the "Story of a Homeland" conference, where he emphasized the necessity of fulfilling the dream and promised that this period would be an extension of Egypt's efforts and aspirations.
The party stated that Sisi's announcement of his candidacy came in response to the calls and appeals of citizens that emerged from all squares in the governorates, in a “symphony of love.”
Al-Ghad Party
For his part, Al-Ghad Party, led by Moussa Mustafa Moussa, greeted Sisi for accepting the responsibility once again in these difficult circumstances.
Moussa stated that Sisi's re-election based on popular will is not new. “We have always been accustomed to him respecting and accepting the mandate and bearing the consequences, no matter the sacrifices involved,” he added.
He praised Sisi’s nomination as a “historic decision that reflects the president's great patriotism and willingness to confront attempts to undermine the state.”
Egypt October Party
Jehan Medhat, the head of the Egypt October Party, stated that Sisi’s nomination confirms his determination to continue his efforts in rebuilding the Egyptian state and freeing it from the chaos and terrorism.
She affirmed that Sisi succeeded in reclaiming the Egyptian state, consolidating its pillars, achieving development and construction, and modernizing the economic structures.
Conference Party
From his side, Reda Farahat, Vice President of the Conference Party, expressed his gratitude to President Sisi for responding to the call of the Egyptian people.
He stated that the President is the most deserving and capable leader to guide the country in the upcoming phase.
He added that Sisi has succeeded in leading the country and achieving stability amidst a region plagued by conflicts and instability.
He also highlighted Sisi’s efforts in combating terrorism and initiating a phase of construction and development since 2014.
Union Party
On his part, Reda Sakr, President of the Union Party, expressed support for President Sisi in order to continue the journey of building the state and reconstructing it based on modernity and democracy.
