Egypt's law obliges dog owners to notify competent authorities in 4 cases

CAIRO - 19 September 2023: Egyptian Law No. 29 of 2023 promulgating the law regulating the possession of dangerous animals and dogs stipulated obligations on the owner of dangerous animals, whether with regard to providing veterinary care for them or otherwise.
 
Article 5 of the law stipulates: The owner of dangerous animals is obligated to provide veterinary care for them, especially vaccinating them against diseases determined by the competent minister based on the presentation of the competent authority, and to maintain records that include their medical history and are approved by the competent authority.
 
The owner is also committed to providing safe and appropriate shelters for dangerous animals in accordance with the requirements set by the competent authority, and feeding them with appropriate food in sufficient quantities.
 
Article 6 of Law 4 specifies the obligation of the owner of dangerous animals, as it states: “The owner of dangerous animals is obligated to immediately notify the competent authority in any of the following cases:
 
1- The dangerous animal is infected with an infectious or epidemic disease, or is suspected of being infected with it.
 
 
2- A person was injured or died as a result of being attacked by a dangerous animal.
 
 
3- The death or escape of the dangerous animal.
 
 
4- The desire to transfer possession of the dangerous animal, abandon it, or the inability to house and care for it.
