149 shops and 4 buildings damaged in Edfu market fire

CAIRO - 19 July 2017: The governor of Aswan decided to constitute a committee to calculate the damages and losses in the aftermath of the Edfu market fire in order to pay compensations to the victims.

149 stores, 4 buildings and a mall were damaged in the Efdu market fire, according to the initial calculations. The Aswan Governorate Committee, which consists of Aswan Social Solidarity and Edfu Local Unity, accomplished preliminary work to calculate the losses of the commercial market fire on Wednesday. Calculating the damaged shops will be resumed directly after finishing extinguishing fires of the remaining shops.

The governor explained that there were no losses of life, although there were some minor injuries due to smoke inhalation (asphyxiation). The injured were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment and first aid.
