CAIRO – 14 September 2023: Egyptian Ambassador to Bucharest Moayed al-Delei met Wednesday with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu to exchange views on regional and international affairs, and discuss consolidating cooperation.

The ambassador stressed the necessity of boosting trade exchange, and continuous support to each other's candidates running for positions at international organizations.

On her side, the Romanian minister noted that Egypt is Romania's main partner in the Middle East and Africa.

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS) and Romania's state-owned Transgaz signed in February a memorandum of understanding on gas transportation. It aims to deepen cooperation between Egypt and Romania in projects to develop the infrastructure for transporting natural gas, as well as to exchange knowledge, skills and technical expertise.

The memorandum of understanding also offers an opportunity to forge partnerships between the two parties in projects aimed at diversifying gas supply and transport methods and enhancing energy security, and to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon energy system by integrating renewable sources into the energy mix of the two countries.

As many as 101 Romanian companies are operating in the Egyptian tourism, industrial, and service sectors with investments worth up $104 million.
