Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said the meeting underscored the strength and depth of relations binding Egypt, EU and its member countries amid joint challenges facing the two banks of the Mediterranean.

The meeting asserted as well the utmost keenness of each party to boost these ties and vistas of cooperation on all fronts, added Fahmy.

Both sides voiced satisfaction with the latest developments of the joint institutional cooperation in the different spheres, with special focus on the the EU-Egypt Partnership Priorities Document for coming years until 2027, according to the spokesman.

They also highlighted the need of maintaining joint coordination and promoting mutual dialogue in this regard to foster friendship ties in the light of joint interests and challenges, he pointed out.

Fahmy said the gathering discussed the file of coordination between Egypt and EU concerning several important regional issues on international fronts and the recent updates of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its political and economic repercussions worldwide, in addition to the the situation in Africa.

In turn, Michel commended Egypt's efforts to settle crises in the region at present and the country's hosting of large numbers of refugees along with its pivotal role in combating illegal emigration.
