Human Development tops Egypt's agenda this year - file

CAIRO - 6 September 2023: The economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2023/2024 directed attention to the human and social development sectors as one of the basic pillars of sustainable development.
 
The government aims to reduce the rates of Population growth reached about 1.69%, compared to 1.72% the previous year, according to the economic and social development plan document for the new fiscal year 2023/2024 submitted by the Minister of Planning, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, to the Parliament.
 
The development plan for the new fiscal year paid attention to the importance of adopting programs aimed at expanding the scope of family planning and reproductive health services and raising awareness of the danger of population increases.
 
Strengthening institutional capabilities to manage the population issue in its various dimensions within the framework of the national project for Egyptian family development.
 
Working on a number of axes, the first of which is related to achieving the economic empowerment of women.
 
These axes are:
 
1. Providing family planning methods free of charge to all.
 
2. Cultural, media and educational intervention to develop awareness of the economic and social impacts of the population issue.
 
3. Digital transformation for smart access to target groups.
 
4. Legislative intervention to establish a legal and regulatory framework governing the policies taken to control population growth.
 
According to the plan, an initiative to provide incentives for excellence in performance in managing the population issue is being launched at the governorate level, with funding amounting to 1.5 billion pounds, with the aim of improving family characteristics and controlling population growth rates, and guided by performance rates in managing the population issue, in light of the aforementioned axes and work mechanisms.
