CAIRO – 16 August 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced on Wednesday receiving a number of proposals made by the National Dialogue, saying that he referred them to relevant authorities for review.

"I have received with great interest a set of outcomes from the national dialogue, which encompassed legislative proposals and executive measures in all political, economic, and social aspects,” Sisi said in a Facebook post.

He extended gratitude and appreciation to all participants involved in preparing and formulating these outcomes.

“I affirm that (the proposals) will be referred to the relevant authorities in the state for study and implementation within the scope of my legal and constitutional powers,” Sisi said.

He added that proposals including necessary legislative amendments will be submitted to the House of Representatives.

For his part, General Coordinator of the National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan thanked Sisi for his quick response to the proposals, which the dialogue has finalized.

Rashwan added that details about the dialogue outcomes will be revealed to people.

The National Dialogue reviewed and formulated proposals of its participants through the past months with regard to key political, economic and social issues.

Proposals submitted to the president cover issues, including a new law for local council elections, a suggested increase in the number of parliament members as well as amendments to the exercise of political rights law and the civil work law.

Some participants also proposed changing the electoral system for the Parliament’s House of Representatives and the Senate.

The dialogue also proposed establishing an anti-discrimination commission.

The proposals also cover the issues of developing industrial zones and providing requirements of agricultural production as part of the dialogue’s economic track.
